Trey Lance: The Future of the NFL
A Look at the Dallas Cowboys Quarterback's Early Career
A 6-foot-4, 226-pound quarterback who was born on May 9, 2000, Trey Lance is a rising star in the NFL. He was born on 1st round 3rd overall of the 2021 NFL draft by the San Fransisco 49ers. Lance played in 19 games for North Dakota State, two in 2018, 16 in 2019, and one in 2020. North Dakota State was 19-0 in the games in which Lance played.
After a standout college career, Lance was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He started the season as the backup to Jimmy Garoppolo but took over as the starter in Week 10 after Garoppolo suffered a season-ending injury. Lance showed flashes of brilliance in his rookie season, but he also struggled with consistency. He finished the season with 1,940 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Lance is expected to be the starting quarterback for the 49ers in 2022. He has the potential to be a franchise-changing player, but he needs to improve his consistency and decision-making. If he can do that, he could lead the 49ers to their first Super Bowl title since 1994.
