Archimedes, the 68-meter luxury yacht owned by billionaire mathematician James Simons, docked in Bristol on Sunday. The yacht, which was built by Dutch yacht builder Royal Van Lent and launched in 2008, is valued at 100 million dollars. Simons, who founded the hedge fund Renaissance Technologies, is one of the most successful investors in modern financial history.
The yacht features a sleek and understated design, with a white hull and a black superstructure. It has a top speed of 20 knots and can accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins. The yacht also has a swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, and a gym.
Simons purchased Archimedes in 2016. He also owns a 220-foot motor yacht named "Quantum." Simons is a noted philanthropist and has donated millions of dollars to education and scientific research.
