Michigan's Student-Designed 'I Voted' Stickers Hit the Polls

Students' Artwork Encourages Civic Engagement

The Michigan Secretary of State has announced the winners of its statewide "I Voted" sticker design contest. The contest, open to Michigan high school students, was created to promote civic engagement and encourage voter participation.

The winning designs, which will be featured on "I Voted" stickers at polling places throughout the state, were created by students from Alpena High School, Farmington Hills Harrison High School, and Woodhaven High School.

Alpena High School

The Alpena High School design, created by senior Ethan Moore, features a bold American flag with a large blue star in the center. The star is surrounded by the words "I Voted" and "Make Your Voice Heard." Moore said he was inspired by the importance of voting and wanted to create a design that would encourage others to participate in the democratic process.

Farmington Hills Harrison High School

The Farmington Hills Harrison High School design, created by senior Ava Patel, features a vibrant hand holding a pencil next to a ballot box. The design is meant to symbolize the power of voting and the importance of making one's voice heard. Patel said she wanted to create a design that would be both eye-catching and meaningful.

Woodhaven High School

The Woodhaven High School design, created by senior Emily Watson, features a colorful collage of images representing different aspects of Michigan, including the state flag, the Mackinac Bridge, and the Detroit skyline. The design is meant to celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of the state and encourage residents to vote in the upcoming election. Watson said she wanted to create a design that would be both unique and representative of Michigan.

The winning designs will be featured on "I Voted" stickers at polling places throughout the state during the upcoming election. The contest is part of the Michigan Secretary of State's ongoing efforts to promote civic engagement and encourage voter participation.
